For the safety of all our volunteers and visitors, there are some very simple rules.

As the sandcastle forms reach taller heights, we must place restrictions on how far up the structure children can climb.  Each level of forms represents a two foot jump in height.  Children under 12 will not be permitted to climb past the six foot mark (that’s three levels).  Children between the ages of 12 and 17 will not be permitted past the 10 foot mark (five levels).

Climbing Rules

Now, that doesn’t mean children cannot continue to help.  Volunteers are needed and wanted throughout every stage of the sand packing process, especially for filling and passing buckets of sand on the ground level.

Adults may climb at their discretion, provided they have signed the required waiver and adhere to all safety precautions, e.g., wearing harnesses, etc.

Those unable to adhere to these rules will be asked to leave the sandcastle site and not return.

Note: Anyone wearing a designated Hard Hat is an official member of the Sandy Castle 2013 team and has unlimited access to the sandcastle.
